The Student Lounge at La Trobe University, Bundoora required interior upgrades in order to make it accessible and accommodating for student and staff.

The brief required the new fit out to include a basic kitchenette and provision for seating. The intent was to supply students and staff with enough microwaves that there would be no wait lines during meal times. As the room is effectively landlocked, with tenancies either side and little natural light, the materiality and layout incorporated  textural references to the outdoors. Hardwood timber screening and perforated plywood panels are used to create warmth and rhythm within the space. A tonal palette of red and burgundy was maintained in order to make the vegetation 'pop' and unifies the room.

In addition, the custom super graphic "Disrupt & Innovate", which references the University's Mission Statement acts as a landmark element that gives the space a new and refreshing identity.
